UTV LED Lights Upgrade

Hands down, one of the best upgrades you can do on your UTV is converting headlights, turn signal and marker lights to LEDs.  If you select the right LEDs you will get better, crisp and bright lights with far less power consumption.  Most UTVs come stock with incandescent, halogen or similar lights.  They’re cheap but inefficient.  First, they consume 5-10 times the wattage of comparable LEDs and second- they waste most of the wattage by converting it into heat instead of light.  You need to be sure to match the bulb socket or you can physically and electrically damage your UTV.  You will almost always pay more for LED bulbs stated as being comparable with your specific UTV but it may be worth the premium if you are unsure of all of the jargon associated with vehicle bulbs.

My MSU-500 from Massimo came with stock incandescent bulbs.  Cheap, inefficient and just OK bulbs.  It took quite a bit of research to find the correct LED replacement bulbs for the headlights and turn signals.  Once received, replacing the bulbs was very straightforward.  Pop us the hood, remove the single screw holding the lamp cover on each side, lift the rubber caps and twist out the bulb holders.  I needed to make sure the headlights were placed into the housing with the right side up/down to correspond to hi/low beams.  Once verified all was put back together and done.

it should be noted that anytime you replace blinker bulbs with LEDs there is a good chance they will hyperflash.  Hyperflash is just a situation where the blink is faster than normal due to the difference in the bulbs resistance.  They make in-line resistors, you can change the flasher unit or just live with the faster flash.  I choose to just live with it since my UTV is strictly off road and I can’t think of too many situations where I would even use my turn signals.

For those with a Massimo, Hisun or similar UTVs I offer a kit with high quality LED headlights and turn signals is the site store.
