Why you need a 3 way hitch adapter

3 way hitch

Nearly every UTV model includes some sort of rear hitch port.  From experience you need to fill it with a 3 way hitch adapter -before- you need it.  A 3 way hitch adapter gives a ball hitch, vertical clevis pin and clevis hole to cover every conceivable connection type you’ll encounter.

Traditional uses include moving my jet ski trailer around my property via the ball hitch; towing my yard wagon behind the utv when I need to navigate up hills and rough terrain and clipping my narrow drag onto the back to smooth out our gravel driveway.  I don’t need to swap out the hitch for the different uses and it’s always there when the need arises.

My jet ski trailer and 2 Yamaha Waverunners weighs in at around 2000 lbs!  I park it in our yard and need to move it every few weeks for mowing and making sure the tires don’t get flat from sitting too long.  It had been a pain to do this with the truck.  Using the UTV is an easier option and is much quicker to get hitched, moved and unhitched.  I would not go too crazy with towing the skis around with the UTV but it’s not due to the hitch- the weight is a lot on the transmission.

I’ve also used the hitch with a length of chain to pull and drag fallen trees out of the way; to pull fence and be a tie point for rope while hoisting things up to our barn loft.  It’s pretty darn useful.
